Looking to generate more leads for a gym? Fortunately the fitness and health industry is growing extremely fast in the United States. This of course comes with increased competition, so we need to get your gym in front of potential customers.

We can use several sources for generating traffic to our landing pages, which highlight our best offers.
Social Media
Facebook Ads
Local SEO
Currently, Facebook ads work better than anything else for generating leads in almost every industry, especially the fitness industry.
Why Facebook Ads?
Facebook ads are key to driving traffic for several reasons.
They generate very low cost leads and
provide amazing targeting abilities. We can target people specifically within a few miles of our location, that also have an interest in health and fitness. We can even use an existing email list to find potential clients that are within a 1% demographic variance to our current clients.
After we have done our targeting and have our ads in front of the right potential client, we need to generate some sort of opt in. In the past we would send traffic to an opt in page to collect contact information. Now Facebook has built in lead ads that are working great. In some situations you will still want to send your traffic to a long form sales letter opt in page. This is good for more complicated sales situations that require more information about the benefits you offer to your customer.
Retargeting Ads
If your website doesn’t have a Facebook Pixel installed you’re missing a huge opportunity. The Facebook tracking pixel lets us send retargeting ads to people that have visited our site. Not only are these our best potential customers, but this is the most cost effective form of advertising. Typically someone needs to hear about a company 10 times before they buy from them. Without the proper retargeting ads, you are always advertising to a cold audience. This is a game changer for online advertising.
Why is all of this so important?
Not only is this a way to get clients in the short term, but most importantly protects your business in the future. How?
In the future these advertising cost will be much more expensive. The key is to establish a communication channel with clients, and potential clients for the future. If we have an email list of thousands of people that we can contact for free, a new competitor that has to use paid traffic to generate leads simply won’t have the cash flow to acquire new customers.
It’s all about the cost of acquiring a customer. If we develop reach and communication with a large customer base right now, it will be too expensive for our competition to steal these customers in the future. Currently we can generate leads for about $2-$3 on Facebook. Simple math tells us there is plenty of room to turn a profit when we develop leads that cheaply. When this increases in the future, a startup will have to spend much more to target the same customer base that we are now communicating with for free on our email list.

Local SEO
Facebook Ads are great for jumping in front of potential clients as they slide through their timeline, but what about potential customers actively searching for a new gym? We also want to cover all of our bases when it comes to local search engine optimization.
Organic SEO
In order to rank well with our organic search rank, we need to focus on having the right "On Page" SEO in combination with the proper backlink structure. For more of an explanation on SEO I recommend reading my SEOpage for a better understanding of how sites are ranked.
Local Map Rank
Have you ever tried to find a correlation to why a competitor is ranking higher than you in Google Places? Below is a breakdown of the ranking information for Google Places. Your rank can quickly be improved by getting more reviews, optimizing your Google My Business directory, and adding more directory citations.

AdWords
While we might not generate significant traffic from a page one AdWords ad, we can still use this as another place to be seen on page one. If we rank high in organic, local map pack, and have an AdWords ad running we will be seen three separate places on the first page for our most important keywords.
Email Marketing
It’s amazing to me how many organizations are forgetting about their email list. Make your subscribers feel like they are part of your brand by communicating with them 4 times a month. Keep people up to date on whats new in your world and give them a special offer once a month.
Website and Funnels
It’s also important to understand what makes a great website and how to optimize landing pages. It’s crucial that we send our traffic to a well made landing page instead of sending traffic our main website. Why? We can’t send traffic to our website and just hope they contact us. Instead, we drive traffic to a well designed opt in page that captures information from more than 50% of visitors. Once we collect information we can send them through a funnel to give us the best chance at generating a sale.

Feel free to send me an email with any follow up questions you might have!
We would love to develop a system like this for your business.
