I often see bloggers and influencers with personal brands that are missing out on a huge opportunity. One of the biggest mistakes you can make with your online traffic is going for a one time sale with a link to a sales page, rather than offering something for free in exchange for an email address. It’s time you start driving your traffic to a lead magnet. Not only will this allow us to grow an email list, but also drive more traffic with an offer so compelling a reader can’t help but click your lead magnet offer.
What kind of lead magnet should I create?
For a local business or restaurant, simply offer a discount for joining an email list.For someone in the health and fitness industry, offer a free meal guide, recipe ebook, or workout guide.In business training such as sales or marketing, create a cheat sheet (ask me about my sales cheat sheet, it could change your life.)
So Chris, how is this lead magnet going to actually increase my sales? When we start growing our email list we now have the ability to run these leads through an email sequence. Your first email of course will deliver your lead magnet. This will then be followed by 2 or 3 information value based emails that don’t try to "sell" anything, just offering value. This can be as easy as generating an email sequence that leads to your most important blog post, start building a relationship with your leads. Finally after offering significant value, make a special offer. If this doesn’t convert, you just rinse and repeat.
